There is a lot to do in the city. Great college basketball and football during the seasons and a minor league baseball team the Riverbats who play at home in Slugger field. Excellent art museum (speed museum), Kentucky Derby Museum, louisville Slugger museum, several older restored landmark houses downtown which offer tours, and lots of antique shops in the bardstown road area which is the arts and crafts..soho equivalent Louisville is home to the Kentucky Derby which runs the first Saturday in May. At the track (Churchill downs) there is a great interactive museum that is worthy of a visit. if you are here when the track is open for the regular meets, I recommend at least a visit. There is a very nice zoo and an IMAX theater which changes programs often.

The African American Community
Louisville is a multicultural city with deep cosmopolitan roots stretching back centuries and it has been a center of African American cultural life for generations. From the enslaved builders who constructed Locust Grove to the abolitionists who risked their lives ferrying escaped slaves along the Underground Railroad that ran through Louisville, African Americans have had an immeasurable impact on the birth and growth of Louisville. Evidence of this history is collected in the many historical markers that dot the traditionally African-American communities of Louisville like Berrytown, Parkland, Russell, and Smoketown.

Glassworks
Observe the magic of glassblowing at the Glassworks Hot Glass Studio. The process begins with a roaring 2200 F degree furnace which contains the molten glass. The hot, honey-like glass then is "gathered" up and the artisans move into action to realize their ideas. Throughout the creation of each piece, they utilize age old tools and techniques along with some modern technology to transform the hot glass into a wide variety of works of art. In the final moments, the artisans' passion combined with the intense heat of the fire provide the energy which results in the vessels, objects, and sculptures of their imaginations.
